Here are 2 simple tips that were included in the latest edition of David Allen’s Productivity Principles Newsletter:

A couple of courtesy reminders that (based on my current experience) deserve repeating:

When you leave your number on someone’s voicemail or answering machine, speak it slowly, and then slowly REPEAT it. Put yourself in the shoes of the person listening to your message. They may not have pen and paper quite yet. They have to hear it, understand it, and write it.

And take the time to edit subject lines in replying e-mails. Most folks have huge e-mail volume, and being able to scan for the thrust of relevant communications on the fly makes a difference.

Using LinkedIn Effectively

Windows Live Writer

I’ve been using Windows Live Writer for a few months now. It is the best Windows-based blog composition application that I’ve used. It works great with WordPress and, apparently, also supports other blogging platforms like Blogger, TypePad, LiveJournal, etc. Best of all, it is free.

Judging by the traffic in my personal inbox, it seeems a number of my colleagues have just discovered LinkedIn.

Although I`ve had account for a few years, it wasn`t until I listened this podcast interview with Reid Hoffman that I recognized the some value of it.

Quick Google Tips

Did you know you can put a package tracking number into Google Search? I’ve tried it with both Fedex and UPS packages.

You can also use Google to quickly determine the currency exchange rates. For example, put “convert USD to CAD” into Google Search. You can see the result here.
