I’m really enjoying Marc Andreessen’s blog.
In a recent post, he does an excellent job explaining the concept of the “Internet platform” and outlines 3 types of platforms.
For those that don’t know, Marc helped create the Moasic web browser. Later, he co-founded Netscape, Opsware, and Ning.
For history buffs, here’s a video of Marc discussing the Moasic web browser at the first Internet Marketing Conference in San Francisco, 1994. Marc appears around 30 minutes into the video.

I remember reading an article in Wired about Marc (with a c) driving to work in his 20k Mustang when Netscape was giving Microsoft the willies.
I am not sure I understand the whole of the article, but I suspect that Marc with Ning could be a little late to the boat.
Linkedin and myspace have already both seen to fall by the virtual wayside. Jeff
